What makes Pune’s street foods special are the small eateries that got established years ago and has gain fame over the years, transforming from stalls to little shops. Pune has a mixed street food culture. The origins can be traced from traditional Maharashtrian, Gujarati and even North Karnataka cuisine. So, here are the top 10 food places in Pune.

1. Vada-Pav At JJ Garden


One of the oldest and most famous vada-pav stalls in town, this one is a must-try if you haven’t had it yet. Slightly expensive than your usual ones, but the size justifies the price. Don’t forget to ask for some churra on the side.

2. Misal Pav At Bedekar


In the bylanes of Narayan Peth, there is an iconic spot that serves a mouth-watering misal. If you don’t like your misal too spicy, here you have an option to choose milder gravy. Mashed potatoes with pohe chivda, topped off with onions and coriander; this one is a crowd favourite.

3. Kheema Pav At Goodluck Cafe


This one is an oldie but goodie. Situated at F C Road, chances are you’ve already been to this one. Though we love all dishes here, nothing comes as close to the mouth-watering Kheema Pav. The Bun Omelette comes a close second.

4. Bhakarwadi At Chitale Bandhu


No one leaves Pune without trying the absolutely delish Bhakarvadis from Chitale Bandhu. No one!

Where: 759/54, Deccan Gymkhana, Opp Gharware Chowk
When: 9 am to 8:30 pm. Closed on Mondays.

5. Bhel At Kalyan Bhel


When on Law College Road, make a pit stop at Kalyan Bhel for some finger licking snack break and you won’t be disappointed. Try any chaat here and you’ll keep coming for more.

6. Paneer Pav Bhaji Dosa At Manna Dosa


Manna Magic Dosa in Nigdi serves over 85 types of dosas. All dosas are served with sambhar and two types of chutneys by the side; coconut, mint and coriander.

7. Classic Pav Bhaji At Shiv Sagar



Shiv Sagar has been serving appetising pav-bhaji for two decades now. We highly recommend their Classic Pav-Bhaji.

8. Bahubali Thali At Paratha House


We suggest you go hear with a big appetite and couple of friends to help you relish this giant thali that is super fresh and absolutely delicious.

9. Pani Puri At Jai Shankar


Jaishankar Pani Puriwala has been blessing us with great chaat for a long time. From SPDP, Smaosa Chaat to Masala Puri; you’ll get everything here. Our favourite is Pani Puri.

10. Dhoklas At Mahalaxmi Khaman Dhokla


This small hole-in-wall joint has been making scrumptious dhoklas for over 40 years. Its light and coupled with sweet and spicy chutney, it’s nothing short of a party in your mouth.

When: 11 am to 7 pm
